  • Computer unable to detect hard drive

  • Question: Hi, I'm running Windows 98SE and accidentally left a floppy disc in the drive when I shut down.Next time I switched on, I could not get beyond the first window (Intel Desktop Board),even after removing the floppy disc. I Tried the ESC. key to no avail, then tried switching it off. No luck, so I pulled the plug out.I now know that I should have pushed the on/off button for at least 5 seconds. Someone told me to try pushing the F keys to bring up the bios? window where I should be able to direct it to detect the hard drive. Tried that but still no response. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.Thanks, Chris

  • Question: I accidentally kicked the plug for my PC tower out of the wall. Oops! The computer shut down, but when I tried to reboot it, it would simply 'turn on' and didn't appear to be actually booting the system, or doing anything but being 'on'. How bad is this?   • Question: look, nothing and no one seem to understand or give me info I can use for this problem. I have Windows 7 DVD Maker and it seems to make DVD's fine except about 25% of the time I get playback on my DVD player w/out sound. I've checked all drives regarding recording, audio, burning, etc. I have Winrar which seems to be no help. I'm just barely a computer novice and am not sure what to do. Do you?

  • Question: I have a Dell 1501 laptop computer connected to a netgear wireless router. The problem is I am unable to get on the internet. All the connections on the system tray at the botom of the screen say's, good connection and strong signal . So I don't undersatnd why I view internet pages. I was able to get the internet Monday and now I can't. I also checked into the connection and did a repair, that did not work as well. My router is only 2 1/2 -3 months old. Could you please help me!!!!

  • Question: I'm downloading books for work. When I download the epub file and open it in winrar, there is suppose to be a folder called oebps which contains pretty much the entire book. There isn't. Why might that be? I downloaded a sample file from a different site trying to figure it out and when I did, behold, an oebps folder! So whats the deal?

  • Question: Ok, I took out the hard drive of my computer and moved it to a hard drive enclosure. Now, I just want to use the hard drive for storage of documents and media (music, videos, etc.) All the the files from the windows is on it and it takes up quite a bit of storage. I want to removed them but keep the media files. I put everyrthing I wanted to keep in a seperate folder. Just right-clicking and deleting won't work.   • Question: When I turn my desktop on the picture shows up on the monitor but in 10 to 60 seconds the screen goes black. The computer is working at the time the screen is black because if I push buttons I can hear sounds. I tried hooking up a different monitor and it does the same thing.

  • Question: My mom has a Compaq Presario 3000 (purchased in 2005) and uses it only for emailing. Her eyesight is poor so I bought her a 22" monitor. I'd like to set it to 1920x1080 res, but can't seem to get it to work. Is the video card (UniChrome) able to handle this? Do I need to upgrade driver or actual video card?   • Question: whenever i safely remove any usb device on my acer laptop (windows 7) i dont think it is safe to remove even though the little pop up box says it is. the LED light doesnt turn off until i unplug it and there is a funny sound from the computer speakers that resembles the sound from windows XP when u dont safely remove a device.When I use windows XP i safely remove my devices and the LED lights on my devices shut off, when i pull the device out there is no sound from the audio. Is something wrong with the usb ports? will continued use of the usb ports damage my devices? is it safe to continue as before?

  • Missing drivers from a freeby computer

  • Question: I was given a "brick" computer that was donated to my work. My computer had died, and used the XP disk I had purchased for the dead computer. Trouble is the drivers for sound card and CDROMs are no there. I am at a loss with all the net sites as how to have the computer diagnose and then me get the drivers I need. The computers were supposed to be a gift from a local school district...but they stripped the computers before giving them to us. They never thought about calling MS and getting the licenses switch....any way...can you assist or guide me. Thanks, Lori

  • Question: If someone sent me a large document by e-mail in wordpad... when I open it... I can't see the way the document was intended. For example, you can't see the page numbers. When I open it, on a computer, with Mircosoft Office 2007... I see the page numbers and the way the document was intended. What should I do to get it the way it was intended? How would I fix page numbers if necessary? I remember with Microsoft Office 2007.. the page numbers were outside the printable margins. If I moved them.. it would not be the way the document was intended. For example, the numbers are at the bottom edge of the paper/page.

  • Question: Computer: HP Pavilion a6120n Desktop w/Vista My DVD drive (E) does not function; - I have put in a number of DVDs & CDs, with no results - When I click on the computer icon, the window shows C, D, F, G, H & I, but no E. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be the problem? Suggestions? Is there some sort of reset button that I don't know about.
