  • Question: I have avast free, advanced systemcare free, online armour free plus microsoft essentials and defender......just cant afford paid for security. Dont know what happened but while surfing strange things happened:- 1. when doing searches on google....I cannot go to pg.2 searches 2. Some websites my I am locked out.... 3. Other websites I am only seeing half the page and it takes forever for the rest of page to come up.....negotiating these websites are difficult. 3. I download spybot search and destroy and the results after checking is as follows.....but I dont know what to do? Because I do not know if these files are important or not.   • Power icon disappearance

  • Question: Sometimes to power icon disappears from the notification area. When I try to put it back I cannot select the option from the taskbar and start menu properties. How can I make it stay where it is. It really helps me know how much time I have left before I have to plug my laptop in.

  • Question: Have an older laptop with 1 x USB port and a PCMCIA slot. To increase hardware attachment capability do I need something like a 4 port USB Express Card for the PC slot or a simple multi port adapter for the USB port? OS is Windows XP and only likely to run a printer, WiFi "N" dongle and wireless mouse at the same time. Many thanks.

  • Question: The media buttons on my ACER aspire 5920G/5920 do not go off even when the power is disconnected. It drains the battery. I have bouught a new battery but no change. How can I get these media button (lights) to go off when the computer is turned off?

  • Question: I have an Acer Aspire 5920G/5920 computer. THe indicator lights on the keyboard relating to the CD rom will not go off even when the computer is turned off. This subsequently drains all the power from the computer. I have bought a new battery/powerpack with no change. HOw can I get this indicator lights (play/pause,stop, fast reverse and fast forward) to go off when I turn the computer off?

  • Motherboard Upgrade

  • Question: Good Afternoon, I currently have a P5GD2 Motherboard and am looking to upgrade the CPU and RAM. I wanted to know what my limitation will be as well as some recommendations. Currently installed is a Intel Pentium 4 540 Prescott (Socket 775) along with two sticks of DDR2 2048 MB giving me about 4gigs of RAM. I use the computer for both audio processing and solidworks simulation. On a regular basis I find that I reach the threshold of this system. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I'm not married to this motherboard, but I suspect a CPU swap and some more ram would get some more life out of this computer. Let me know, Charles.

  • Question: i cant not figure why my computer is restarting and goes to a black screen thats says sorry for the inconvience anf then gives you choices to pick safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, and start windoows normally. i hab=ve clicked on each of them and sometimes it goes all the to the desktop and sometimes it and then restarts and goes to the same same black screen, but most of the time it just restarts right back to the sorry for inconvience screen. and i am not that good with computers at all

  • Question: Enter Your Questioni have got the 3 red light's and got fedup with it and went inside it to se if a wire had cum out and cold not find any thing wrong so i put it back to gether but some of the plastic brok then i turned it back on it was stil the same and then i herd of the towel method and it seemd to make it work but then i got 4 red lights ater looking for a way to fix it a sit it recmendid to get a new AV wire and to my surprise wen i turned it on it was working again but only for 2 days then the 3 red lights cam back and Naw i do not no what to do my guarentee ran out because i got my xbox 360 in 2006 and i did not want to pay £140 to get it fixd thats why i went in sid it so what now?

  • EPC Netbook stuck on "Loading OS Image"

  • Question: I purchased a EPC Netbook and when I turn it on it says Loading OS Image. I have copied the VT8500Software.tar file onto an SD memory card and inserted into the netbook, turned on the netbook and it does nothing. Everyone else has had luck with this procedure, but it isn't working for me. I have 3 of these netbooks that are doing the same thing. Please help! Thanks a million!

  • Question: Hi I have a dell vostro 200 I have just installed an hitachi external hardrive 1tb to free up space on computer over the last few days everytime I try to use my external re writer Ipod, Printer etc the computer shuts down goes to blue screen and closes and then re starts I have attached to computer 2 printers, external drive, external harddrive, keyboard, mouse, speakers so have an extention hub attached, there are some usb ports on computer not recognised and the drive never works, the computer is only 2 years old has 455 storage and still 315 free space, on c drive, 915 space on external drive and 6.9 out of 9.99 space on d drive I am working with vista business any ideas as this is driving me nuts and i am losing the will Hope you can help Sue

  • Question: Im having issues with the speed of my broadband. i have sky broadband unlimited up to 8mb i can only get 5mb in the area i live, when i test it it only comes up as 1.75mb per second. this issues has only occurred in the last few weeks when phoning them the asked me to type "netstat" into command prompt which shows over 40 connections but i only have 2 smartphones an ipod touch and an xbox 360 connected at any one time how can i reduce the number of connections or delet them from netstat ? thanks

  • DVD/CD Drive not reading

  • Question: I may as well start from the beginning so I don't leave anything left out. Yesterday I went to insert my income tax cd in the dvd/cd drive and nothing happened. I could hear the drive spinning but no data was read. I went and looked under computer" and I this is what reads ( I'm running Vista on a HP laptop ) C: OS D: HP Recovery F: DATA. When I look under Device manager then disk drives there are 2- samsung HM 160HI ATA Devices. I have been all over the internet searching for a solution and found information about upper and lower filters and deleting them. I also was advised by sales person at Future Shop, where I bought the computer to also delete the upper and lower filter. I found a upper filter and deleted it. I then rebooted the computer and my windows was unable to start. I restored my computer back to the most recent restore point which happened to be today and now I am scared to delete the filter entries again. Is there any possible solutions? Thanks Heather

  • Question: I just began to get a bluescreen on start up. I can work around it by F8, "use last known good", but that is not a real fix. Dell Dimension 3000, Microsoft XP home edition. So far I followed the general directions form Mircosoft - download latest updates, scan for viruses, check hard disc. No dice on these. I have not recently added any new software or hardware. The blue screen suggests removing any BIOS shadows but I don't know how to do that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Question: I tried to Run the file for yahoo messenger 10 and a window pops up and the message says..... (Yahoo messenger is unable to download files needed for installation. Please check firewall settings and retry installation.) I went to control panel and shut off firewall and then shut down my computer then tried to Run the file again and the same thing happened again. What to do?

  • Question: I am trying to see if this set-up is possible for what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to save money by ordering on-line tv programing through a computer located on my second story and have it stream to a laptop located downstairs. I recently bought and set up a linksys simul dual-band wireless N router. So my question is two fold: 1. What laptop would I need to buy in order to receive and process x-missions from the upstairs wireless router 2. Would I be able in theory to receive a decent picture on the laptop to make it worthwhile ? The reason Im trying to do this is because the cost of watching tv on line (for the filipino channel)is much cheaper than having to buy an antenna and pay for standard tv programming from the this provider.   • Question: Hello, My Toshiba M40X (5 years old would not turn off this morning, after 30 mins I took the battery out and since them I can not start it at all. Power light is on but that is it. It does not react to nothing. Now, if it is really dead, then how can I get all my data that is on the hard disk ?   • Question: The cd drive on my HP Pavilion laptop stopped working shortly after I bought it about two years ago. I bought it at Circuit City, which has now closed, so I can't bring it back there.   • Question: I have got two PCs- both pentium 4. due to some mother bord probs the Ist computer is not working. So i took its hard drive and connected to the Second PC as slave. the 2nd PC recognizes the hard disk but when I try to enter in the drive (slave i connected). it says disk not formatted. Do you want to format. As you know if I say yes, I could loose data, But I dont want to. Please help me with a solution.
