Edit index.html page

Hi, I have made several attempts to edit an index.html page into a free html editor. My problem is,after copying and pasting the code into a new folder,i receive a large white box: File Not Found. Can anyone please explain the problem ? I will appreciate your assistance,Thanks Sincerely Keith
