Electrical Problem?

I accidentally kicked the plug for my PC tower out of the wall. Oops! The computer shut down, but when I tried to reboot it, it would simply 'turn on' and didn't appear to be actually booting the system, or doing anything but being 'on'. How bad is this? Could the information on the hard drive be recoverable?
